A little story about “firsts.”
On Sunday I had the privilege of doing a portrait session with Jordan and Katie, a past wedding couple, and their “relatively” new baby, Natalie. It’s the first time I’ve shot a new baby with a past wedding couple.
The story about first continues back a few years as Jordan and Katie were also the first couple I did an engagement session and bridal session with. Their wedding wasn’t my first, but at that time I wasn’t including engagement sessions with my wedding collections.
Katie and Jordan are such a sweet, grounded couple. They’re comforting to be around. Authentic. Very cool. And very easy to photograph.
So, here are a few from our Sunday session together along Minnehaha Creek in South Minneapolis…
I walked to the shoot from my house, and when I got there I spotted Katie, Jordan, and Natalie playing peekaboo around a tree. Before they saw me I hid behind a tree and snapped off a few…
I’ll share ONE traditional photo… the rest are just more “fun”…
More peekaboo…
The Little Beacon…
A kiss from Katie…
EWE! Mom and Dad kissing! Cover my eyes! Cover my eyes!
Katie… it’s all gonna be okay…
Awe…
Come to Momma!
The Look of Love…
This is just so sweet…
Coddled with love…
Thanks Jordan and Katie… it was great seeing you again and meeting Natalie! Your young little family embodies so much about what I love about photography.
And one from my first engagement session… Katie and Jordan wanted to do their engagement session in the snow, but that winter there just wasn’t snow to be had. We waited and waited, and finally just had to git ‘er done.

Okay… maybe two…

Well, wouldn’t you know it? A couple days after the engagement session we had an absolutely beautiful snowfall. I called Katie up that morning and asked if she had her dress and if she could get ready for a bridal session in the snow… Within a couple hours we were trudging around in the snow at Minnehaha Falls Park…
I gotta say… this is one of the most beautiful photos I’ve ever made. Thanks for being such a great sport, Katie!

And I suppose we should finish this post off with a kiss.
